The North Bay Police Services Board was in the Christmas Spirit for its final meeting of 2022.
The North Bay Police Services Board presented The Santa Fund, The Gathering Place, The North Bay Food Bank, The Crisis Centre North Bay, and The Salvation Army with a cheque for $1000 each at its monthly Board meeting which took place on Tuesday morning.
“We are pleased to provide support for local community organizations that help build healthy, strong and inclusive communities,” said new Police Board Chair Rich Stivrins in a release.

According to the Police Services Act, the North Bay Police Service is authorized to spend the proceeds from the sale of property that lawfully comes into the possession of the police service.
The proceeds from these sales go into a special contingency fund used to support community organizations, events, and initiatives that are considered in the public interest.
Including today’s announcement, the Police Services Board has provided donations of over $8,000 to various community organizations in 2022.
The Santa Fund is the city’s largest and longest-running fundraising effort. Every year the North Bay Santa Fund collects donations to help those in need during the holiday season. Volunteers assemble over 600 baskets of groceries and over 1,500 toys to be delivered to families and children in North Bay.
The Gathering Place is a not-for-profit charitable organization located in the city of North Bay. They deliver programming to address food insecurity issues in our community. Programs include daily drop-in meals, a community garden space, cooking education etc.
The North Bay Food Bank’s mission is to work within our community to gather and distribute nutritious food to those in need, and to contribute to public awareness, the conditions that lead to food insecurity.
Crisis Centre North Bay is a registered charity that assists persons in crisis by providing them with temporary room and board and provides care, rehabilitation and other necessary services to support such persons in re-establishing themselves in the community.
The Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people by offering practical assistance for children and families, often tending to the basic necessities of life, providing shelter for homeless people, and rehabilitation for people who have lost control of their lives to an addiction.
