The new transit shelters will be similar to this one near the intersection of Marshall Avenue and Prince Edward Drive.

Twelve transit stops, identified by the City of North Bay as "high passenger and high frequency," will be outfitted with new, accessible bus shelters following the awarding of a contract at North Bay City Council's recent regular meeting.

Council approved the award of a contract to Daytech Limited in the amount of $78,720 for the supply and delivery of 12 new North Bay Transit bus shelters following a formal bid request that elicited three bids. The evaluation considered the mandatory technical requirements related to the shelter’s design and price.

The project qualifies for the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP): Public Transit Stream and will be primarily funded by an ICIP grant.

According to the associated staff report, "This will increase the total number of bus shelters across the community and provide customers with a sheltered waiting space. Shelters will include solar-powered lighting which will limit the impact on the environment."

The quote from Daytech Limited was the lowest bid, provides the best overall value to the City, and is considered fair and reasonable, per the report.
