Austin Seibel named second star making 28 saves.

Anthony Boyes had two goals, including notching the game-winner, as part of a 4-1 victory by the Powassan Voodoos, over the Elliot Lake Vikings, in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Sunday matinee at Massey & District Community Arena Sunday afternoon.

Collecting a pair of markers deep into the first period saw Powassan take a 2-0 lead to the intermission.

Garrick Denchuk put the Voodoos in flight at 16:46 as he benefitted from an errant pass attempt from a Vikings player and lifted in his initial NOJHL from the high slot that got through netminder Ryder Lally, for an unassisted effort.

They then went up by a pair with 15 seconds left in the session as Boyes took an Owen Kahl back pass and snapped it high over the blocker of Lally for the power play marker.

Action in the middle stanza saw Elliot Lake get on the board three and a half minutes in, thanks to Brigham Nye, who skated into the Powassan zone and roofed a short-side attempt on a partially screened goalkeeper Austin Seibel.

Getting that back past the midway point of the proceedings, the Voodoos’ Caleb Dawson darted down the right wing taking a feed from Caden Dubreuil and snapped a shot that managed to leak through Lally.

Third period play saw the scoreline remain the same until the late going.

There, the Vikings got their goaltender out for an additional skater, however Boyes iced it for Powassan by chipping a play ahead and putting the puck into the empty net in the final moments.

Austin Seibel was solid in goal for the Voodoos making 28 stops and was the game's second star.

With the win, the Voodoos improve to 11-10-0-3 on the season, while Elliot Lake dips to 6-17-0-0.
