Ever tried a maple bacon cupcake?
Here's your chance.
‘National Cupcake Day’ is expanding to a week-long event in North Bay.
The event officially launches on Saturday, February 23 with an in-store event at Parker’s Your Independent Grocer but customers can begin pre-ordering treats for family, friends, and co-workers early by visiting northbayhumanesociety.ca/
Proceeds will go to the North Bay and District Humane Society.
"Helping sick and abandoned animals has never been easier or sweeter," says spokesman Brett Greene. "That’s the motto of the North Bay and District Humane Society whose National Cupcake Day fundraiser hopes to bring in over $5,000 to help area animals through the sales of cupcakes and treats from local vendors and home bakers."
“Sixty years after we opened our doors, the need for animal welfare services is still high,” says Liam Cullin, Executive Director of the Humane Society. “Each year, we help more than 1,000 cats and dogs find forever homes. Fundraisers like National Cupcake Day make that possible.”Nationally 136,956 cupcakes have been baked, raising $3.15 m.
Local partners for this year’s event include:
- Parker’s Your Independent Grocer,
- Orchards Fresh Food Market,
- SugarDaddy Cupcakes & Catering and
- Sturgeon Falls Chez Jean-Marc Bakery.
You have the choice of buying a variety of treats - from chocolate and vanilla to maple bacon cupcakes and donuts - with all proceeds benefiting Humane Society programs, including adoptions, low-cost spay and neuters and animal transfers.
