22 Wing North Bay Honorary Colonel, Phil Richardson, and the folks of Northgate Shopping Centre have been busy helping honour military personnel serving oversees.

Recently Richardson in association with Tim Horton’s arranged to have 800 pounds of coffee donated for the 300 air personnel serving in the Arabian Gulf region.

Richardson has now installed a prototype media centre that allows the community to see what the military is doing overseas.

“This is something that we have developed over the years. We've had a kiosk in the Mall for seven years now, actually as a static display. Now we've created this one goes to flat screen TVs, and what we have is an opportunity to put this in the Mall and have professional presentations, 24-7 for people to see and satisfy their interest in what the military might be doing, and allows the military and opportunity to communicate directly to the Canadian public.”

Richardson says the prototype was designed in association with the Canadian Forces Base North Bay, who produced the display murals to go around the flat screen TVs supplied by the shopping centre.

The Honorary Colonel says Northgate’s owner would like to see the media kiosks in all of their malls across Canada.
