A North Bay teen faces weapons charges in connection with a dispute in a parking lot shortly before 11 last night.
North Bay Police got a 9-1-1 call reporting a dispute in the parking lot of a business on Lakeshore Drive.
Police say a man was involved in a dispute with another male when he pulled out, what was reported to be a black handgun.
He started waving it around and a witness called 911 immediately.
As the report was being made a North Bay Officer was driving past the scene of the dispute and arrested the man.
Located in the arrested man's waistband was a black pellet gun that resembles a handgun.
Police arrested and charged James Deveaux, 19, of North Bay with:
- Weapon Dangerous to the Public;
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
Deveaux was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
"Imitation firearms have been known to be used in criminal offences, most often to generate fear and intimidation," said John Schultz, Community Safety Coordinator. "These imitation firearms and their quality are very similar to authentic firearms, which result in people believing they are real. In the event an imitation firearm is used in the commission of an offence, the individual will still be charged criminally."
