A man arrested in Huntsville today only added to his woes by kicking and damaging an OPP cruiser.
Police say a mid-morning call to police about two people stealing from cars led them to King William St. where a theft from vehicles was in progress.
Concerned citizens had alerted the OPP of thieves entering cars in parking lots of businesses in the area of King William St. and Cliffe Ave.
Huntsville. OPP found a man and woman on Menominee St. Iinitial investigation revealed that they were in possession of stolen property and the two were arrested for theft.
Police also found drugs on the two.
A total of 2.7 grams of Fentanyl, and 1 gram of cocaine were seized. While being taken to the Huntsville OPP Detachment the male kicked and dented an OPP cruiser, earning a "mischief destroy or damage property" charge,
Robert Merkel, 32, of Huntsville is also charged with:
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance- Fentanyl
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Theft under $5,000
Ashley Peavoy, 30, of Sprucedale is charged with:
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance- cocaine
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance- Fentanyl
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Theft under $5,000
Merkel and Peavoy are being held for bail scheduled for February 12.
