A former North Bay man, now in Toronto, Jordan Guy is up for an Emmy award for Outstanding Sound Editing in a Preschool Animated Program.

He is part of a four-person team that worked on a children's favourite "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" for Super Sonics Post Production in Toronto.

The show can be seen on Amazon Prime Video.

He says it was a pretty exciting time when the team heard it had been nominated.

"We all gathered around the computer and scrolled through the list and we got to our name and we freaked out," Guy told BayToday.

"It was a little bit of disbelief. We weren't really expecting it, we were just having fun working on the show. We were double-checking and asking ourselves, 'Is this the actual list?'"

The Fanshawe College graduate described his job as, "Basically we get the show and it's just a video with a bit of dialogue, so we cut and clean up the dialogue, and edit sound effects like footsteps. Basically, we cut all sound and then it gets mixed and sent off.

"It's a good show, very cute and it's based on the books so maybe there's a nostalgia factor there with people but overall it's just really good."

Guy has been a sound editor for five years.

"To be nominated, for all of us, it's very cool."

Jordan is the son of local dentist Dr. Michael Guy and his wife Carolyn who has a practice on Lakeshore Drive.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, recognizes outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production.

The ceremony will take place on April 29 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California and will be available for viewing on the Facebook Live platform.
