Local artist Jack Lockhart to feature a collection of works

Jack Lockhart’s “Allure of the North – Creativity Unleashed” opens Saturday in Callander

The Alex Dufresne Gallery in Callander will present "Allure of the North - Creativity Unleashed" by Jack Lockhart, featuring a collection of works by the internationally known but local Canadian artist.

His paintings hang in private and corporate collections throughout North America and Europe and in countries such as Australia, South Africa, and China according to a news release.

"He has completed specially commissioned work commemorating 100th anniversaries - Ontario Provincial Police, Teacher Education in North Bay, West Ferris Secondary School as well as the 50th anniversary of NORAD. His work can also be found in private collectors include former Prime Ministers, Ontario Premiers, Lieutenant-Governors, Canadian and US Ambassadors as well as celebrities such as late singer Michael Burgess, cartoonist Lynn Johnston , golfer Jeff Sluman and former hockey great Bobby Orr."

The opening reception is Saturday, July 6 from 2-4 p.m.

There will be light refreshments and free museum admission.

The show will remain on display until August 27. The spring/summer hours of the gallery are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m to 5 p.m.
