Krasinski danced to ‘Shake It Off’ for Rogers commercial shot in Innisfil

Star of The Office, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan was the centrepiece of filming that occurred on Lake Simcoe and at Innisfil Beach Park in June

INNISFIL, Ont. — A Hollywood A-lister recently graced the shores of Lake Simcoe.

John Krasinski, known for his roles in The Office, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, IF and A Quiet Place, took on a new task recently — boogying to Taylor Swift in Innisfil. As it turns out, Krasinski was a main part of the commercial shoot that occurred on Lake Simcoe and at Innisfil Beach Park on June 11.

In an email from July 10, Rogers senior communications manager Laura Crochetiere confirmed the filming was being done for the telecommunications company, with Krasinski as the centrepiece.

“In the new Rogers 5G spot, John Krasinski lip-syncs and dances to Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off (Taylor’s Version)’ while streaming music on the lake,” she said. “Just when he thinks he’s alone, a local fisherman catches him in the act. It’s a fun, lighthearted moment that highlights the reliability and capability of our Rogers 5G network, and the location was a perfect backdrop to showcase Ontario’s amazing lakes and cottage country.”

That song is purposely incorporated into the advertisement because Rogers is the presenting sponsor of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, which comes to Toronto and Vancouver in the fall.

“The spot is part of (a) campaign introducing Rogers’ new brand platform,” she said. “It showcases our role as Canada’s communications and entertainment company — connecting Canadians to the best communications and entertainment experiences, whether that’s the most reliable networks, the most innovative investments, or the most engaging sports and entertainment.”

This new brand platform focuses on the investments being made by Rogers to bring Canadians better communications and entertainment experiences. The marketing campaign, developed by Publicis, features high-impact advertising, including billboards, transit and airport takeovers, as well as a significant online presence, the company says.

Krasinski's commercial was filmed by Toronto-based Circle Productions and coordinated through Nottawasaga Futures.
