IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Jack Jarvis’ second goal of the game, coming early in the third period, proved to be the game-winner as the Iroquois Falls Storm went on to defeat the Powassan Voodoos 4-2 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League affair Friday evening at Jus Jordan Arena.

After a scoreless opening frame, Powassan broke the deadlock, while on a power play, to commence the middle stanza.

There, Owen Kahl clicked 24 seconds in as he took a pass across from Jackson Smith and pumped it past Iroquois Falls netminder Maverick Fletcher from the top of the right circle.

Countering with an equalizer seven minutes later, a diving play by Jaden Lyons kept the puck in the Voodoos’ zone, that led to Jarvis snapping a shot by the blocker of goaltender Austin Seibel.

The Storm then took a lead into the second intermission on a late effort courtesy of Landon Trethewey as he snagged a loose puck that was sliding through the crease and slammed it in.

Moving to the third, Iroquois Falls went up by pair after Jarvis took a pass from Jordan Mayo then ripped a short side shot on Seibel, while driving down the left wing.

A two-man advantage helped Iroquois Falls provide some insurance with Mayo getting the last touch on a bouncing puck that he knocked in for his 10th goal of the season.

Cayden Kowal got one back for Powassan at 14:45 as he went to the front of the net off a draw and shovelled one past Fletcher.

The Voodoos got their goalie out for an extra attacker in the late going, but the Storm did their part defensively to secure the home ice victory.

Next up for the Voodoos will be road games against the Hearst Lumberjacks Saturday night and Timmins Sunday afternoon.
