The year is 1925 and North Bay is growing very quickly. You have been hired by the newly incorporated City of North Bay to help plan for the future. Where will you build roads? How many schools will you need? How will you leave room for parks?

Can you imagine a rocky tree lined path leading North along what is now Algonquin Avenue? One thing is for sure, North Bay looks very different than it did 100 years ago. Some of the changes that we have made will have a lasting impact on future generations.

Through the Growing Wild program, children will witness North Bay growing up before their very eyes. We have many parks, paths and green spaces to enjoy thanks to hard working early North Bay residents and planners. Just like old buildings, old parks have fascinating histories and interesting stories to tell. It is hard to imagine the industrial past of our now beautiful waterfront. Children will have the opportunity to share the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures of the waterfront now brimming with green. It has been a truly amazing transformation, and we are still improving!

Participants will also take home a planting project so that they can start planning their own green spaces.
