It's Scrabulous

Our friends from Roger’s Radio Andy Wilson and Dean Belanger discuss the finer points of Scrabble during the North Bay Literacy Council’s tournament Friday.

Once again the North Bay Literacy Council brought back their most popular promotional tool ‘the Scrabble tournament’ over the weekend at Northgate Shopping Centre.

“Scrabble is such a fun game that tons of people like to play, so what better way to attract attention for literacy than to play in the mall,” says Jane Jackson.

“We are very thankful for the support of all our ‘celebrities’ who came out to play with us today.”

Along with local celebrities, members of the general public joined in and squared off in an intense battle of words all in an effort to bring attention to and promote literacy and help people with their spelling.

“We get to talk to many people about what resources we offer at the Literacy Council for people who are looking to improve their skills or people who would like to volunteer as tutors.”

The North Bay Literacy Council helps people develop their reading and writing skills and provide one-on-one peer tutoring. For more information call 494-9416.
