Police say thieves have hit a number of ice huts on Callander Bay.

"Since January 1, 2019, the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has responded to several complaints of ice fishing shacks being broken into in the Callander Bay area of Lake Nipissing," said Acting Staff Sergeant Bill McMullen in a news release.

The North Bay OPP is reminding ice shack owners:

  • Don't leave anything of value inside.
  • Get to know your neighbours!.

McMullen suggests that hut owners "work together as an ice fishing community to help combat theft. If you see someone suspicious call the OPP."
