Highway 17 has been closed between North Bay and Sturgeon Falls due to a fatal car accident which occurred on the Trans Canada Highway just west of the Jocko Point Road.
The accident occurred around 7 p.m. on Thursday night.
"Highway 17 is closed between North Bay and Sturgeon Falls although some local traffic will be allowed to pass," the OPP stated via social media Thursday night.
"The highway will be closed for an extended period of time for officers to conduct an investigation."
The OPP say the road closure begins at Nova Beaucage Road on the North Bay side to Golf Course Road near Sturgeon Falls.
OPP say motorists can take an alternative route through Highway 64.
