The North Bay Police Service is reporting the execution of a search warrant at a Douglas Street residence, along with the resulting arrests and drug trafficking and weapons charges laid against four males and one female.
On Jan. 22, members of the NBPS Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Team, and members of the Patrol Section executed the search warrant at the Douglas Street residence. Upon entry, 19 individuals were located, of which five were arrested in an ongoing drug investigation. Police say four additional people were arrested on outstanding warrants. As a result of the investigation, five people were charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences. Additionally, one male falsely identified himself and was subsequently charged accordingly.
Police seized almost $19,000 in drugs and Canadian and U.S. currency. Four others located at the residence were arrested on outstanding warrants.
The accused in this matter are:
Dylan Johnson, male, age 36 of North Bay is charged with:
- Seven counts possession for the purpose of trafficking - schedule 1 substance
- Two counts possession for the purpose of trafficking - schedule 4 substance
- One count possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
- One count of breach of a firearm prohibition
Christa McCabe, female, age 30 of North Bay:
- Seven counts possession for the purpose of trafficking - schedule 1 substance
- Two counts possession for the purpose of trafficking - schedule 4 substance
- One count possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
Trent Couroux, male, age 32 of North Bay:
- Two counts possession of a schedule 1 substance
- One count possession of a prohibited weapon
- One count breach of a conditional sentence order
James Gostick, male, age 42 of North Bay:
- One count possession of a prohibited weapon
- One count obstruct police
- One count of breach of probation
Jake Cotnam, male, age 30 of North Bay:
- One count possession for the purpose of trafficking - schedule 1 substance
Searches by police resulted in the seizure of:
- Approximately 79.5 grams of suspected cocaine
- Approximately 69.3 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine
- Approximately 7.1 grams of suspected Fentanyl
- 199 pills of suspected hydromorphone
- 144 pills of suspected methamphetamine
- 75 pills of suspected Clonazepam
- 60 pills of suspected Percocet
- 13 pills of suspected Oxycodone
- 13 pills of suspected Diazepam
- $1,271 in Canadian currency
- $40 in U.S. Currency
- A flick knife
- Brass knuckles
- Six Rounds of .22 ammunition
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $17,678.
Accused Johnson, McCabe, Couroux and Gostick were all held for a bail hearing, Cotnam was released on an Undertaking, with a future court date.
