Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre returns with a musical tale of a farm country adventure.
This weekend, you can catch a cast of 75 children bring to life HONK! Jr., a musical adaptation of the story of The Ugly Duckling. The show runs on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. with a 3 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Jan. 25. Both shows are at the Capitol Centre at 150 Main Street, North Bay, and all tickets are sold through its box office for $24.
Michelina Beam, the Executive Director of Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre, noted in a release, “HONK Jr. will treat the audience to equal amounts of laughter and tears.” The production, she added, is “A heartwarming celebration of being different.”
The Dreamcoat creative team are all alumni of the program. The show’s director, Darren Summersby, said “It is a joy to return to Dreamcoat to work with these children alongside the staff of individuals that I grew up with.”
Summersby continued, “I truly believe this program is a safe space to grow skill and confidence. It is my hope that this generation of Dreamcoat kids will follow in our footsteps and ensure our succession in years to come.”

In anticipation of the Capitol Centre shows, the troupe is performing at a few local elementary schools beginning today until Thursday.
Beam noted, “More than four thousand young children from areas as far away as Mattawa and Sundridge will get to experience the wonderful magic of a live theatre presentation.”
Come Friday evening, you can catch that experience for yourself too, as HONK! Jr. brings the farm to the stage for a heartwarming musical adaptation of The Ugly Duckling.
