The Downtown Improvement Area Old Fashioned Christmas Walk has taken on a life of its own over the past 30 years.
Typically, the walk draws a crowd of about 10,000 people. An estimated 15,000 people attended Friday night's walk, over a three hour time period.
Highlights included the lighting of the downtown Christmas Tree with Santa and Mrs. Claus posing for pictures with the children. The Town Crier was joined by DIA board members, and local dignitaries.
The Village Clydesdales horse and wagon team offered rides throughout the downtown.
And of course, there was plenty of music, from choirs to bands of all sizes, including the St. Joseph- Scollard Hall Marching Band, just back from participating in the Toronto Santa Claus Parade.
Hydro bucket rides were back, a rail jam organized by Cheapskates drew big crowds, and there was plenty to drink and eat, including a marshmallow roast by the Rotary Club of North Bay.
The grand finale was a firework’s display behind the North Bay Museum..
Baytoday.ca was there, and has provided a photo gallery featuring some of the evening's highlights.
