A North Bay man rescued from the McIntyre Street downtown fire on Saturday morning has passed away.
"Unfortunately, the person rescued from the fire at 573 McIntyre Street East has succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire," stated Greg Saunders, deputy fire chief, with the North Bay Fire Department.
"The fire scene is now in the care and control of the Coroner."
Saunders says the Coroner’s investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Ontario Fire Marshal investigation team, Forensic Division of the North Bay Police and Fire Investigator from North Bay Fire and Emergency Services.

The call initially came in around 6:30 a.m. about the blaze at the three-story multi-residence home. Firefighters responded quickly and their first priority was to rescue the man who had suffered serious injuries in the fire.
Saunders noted that the fire damage was contained to only one residence with smoke damage throughout the old downtown building.
Three other residents of the building were left homeless for now but were not injured in the blaze.
The Ontario Fire Marshall's office arrived on the scene Saturday afternoon to investigate the cause of the morning fire.
