Downtown fire appears to have started outside of building

There were no confirmed injuries due to the incident

Details are few and the investigation is just beginning but North Bay Fire and Emergency Services indicated a fire that eventually made its way inside an office and storage building at 225 McIntyre St. West originated outside.

There were no confirmed injuries due to the incident and the fire was extinguished in short order.

NBFES crews responded to the blaze just after 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The fire's plume of dark smoke could be seen for blocks in the downtown core.

North Bay Police Service officers and District of Nipissing paramedics also responded.

Police closed McIntyre West to traffic at Ferguson Street while the crews worked to put out the fire.

No official cause nor damage estimate has been released.

BayToday will update this story as more details become available.
