Local restraints 100 Georges, Average Joe’s, and Cecil’s Eatery and Beer Society, as well as Joseph’s Family restaurant in Burks Falls all hosted A Taste for Life Wednesday an event in benefit of the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area.

The event is a simple concept that sees a host invite friends, family and supporters to have a meal at one of the participating restaurants each restaurant donate 25% the night’s receipts are donated to the committee.

Scott Clark who played dapper host at 100 Georges wanted an evening of celebration of life, friends while supporting one and other in the community.

Event coordinator Kathleen Jodouin says ACNBA officials are thrilled with the turn out.

“It’s fantastic to see such great support from our community and for this cause. We’re really overwhelmed and pleased,” she says.

“It makes a big impact on their lives for sure and also to know that this community so open and supportive of what they are going through.”

Jodouin says although the evening was a great celebration and a lot of fun it is important for everyone to remember that AIDS isn’t over.

“Unfortunately it is still very much a part of our lives and the community is certainly affected by it,” she states.

“And there are certainly individuals in our community who are both infected and affected by it and we have to remember that and continue to support these people.”

“I’ll be honest, I’m probably like most people, I have a little bit of information but what I do know is AIDS ... No Cure,” states Clark.

“And (what) we can do for my kids and everyone else’s kids is provide information to them and (hope) that make the right choices.”

The funds raised remain in the area and help purchase important goods for clients such as hygiene kits, nutritional supplements, vitamins, and travel.

By all accounts the night was a true success and organisers are already planning to bring the event back again next year with more restaurants on board.
