MP Anthony Rota says he’s very pleased that construction of the new North Bay Water Treatment Plant will officially begin on Friday. The project, which received nearly $15 million in federal funding through COMRIF Intake One, was approved under the previous Liberal Government.

“North Bay benefited greatly from the Liberal Government’s commitment to regional development programs such as COMRIF and FedNor. The North Bay Water Treatment Plant stands as the single largest COMRIF project ever approved by the federal government,” says Mr. Rota.

The City of North Bay will begin construction on a new membrane filtration water treatment plant to be connected to the city’s existing water system. The new plant will replace current treatment facilities with modern, energy-efficient equipment, as well as state-of-the-art controls.

According to Mr. Rota, “The previous Liberal government recognized the importance of investing in infrastructure projects such as this, in Nipissing-Timiskaming and throughout Northern Ontario, so that our communities remain safe and healthy places to live.”
