Classes Back On Tuesday (Updated)

Classes will resume as normal Tuesday as the Near North District School Board Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario - Near North Occasional Teachers’ Bargaining Unit in Toronto to resume negotiations.

The Near North District School Board is pleased to report that students will return to school for Tuesday May 16, 2006.

Tomorrow, Board negotiators will be joining the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario - Near North Occasional Teachers’ Bargaining Unit in Toronto to resume talks with the benefit of a provincial mediator.

The talks are scheduled for two days. The Board is committed to achieving a settlement and avoiding further labour disruptions.

Further the Near North Occasional Teacher Local, Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario released the following a statement :

Negotiators from the Near North Occasional Teacher Local, Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario and the Near North District School Board will conduct a mediated bargaining session in Toronto later today. If progress is made, a second round of talks is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17, 2006.

The Occasional Teacher Local looks forward to meeting with the Board and hopes a settlement can be reached.
