Following an in-camera session at the tail end of Tuesday's regular meeting of North Bay City Council, word emerged that the City of North Bay had gained approval to purchase a property at 1183 Cassells St.
The property is to the left in the above photo, adjacent to the Gathering Place, a social services organization and community food centre.
Details are few at present but according to Gord Young, the City's communications officer, "This is a strategic acquisition, which is part of the City of North Bay's strategy to address community safety and well-being priorities."
Young adds, "The City plans to collaborate with various community partners to develop a business case for the effective use of the property. We will be better positioned to share more information once the business case has been completed."
Council also approved up to $310,000 for the purchase price and any related purchase costs. The funds will be drawn from the City's Property Development Reserve Fund 99535R.
