The Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section, Clandestine Laboratory Investigative Response Team is investigating what is believed to be one of the largest methamphetamine labs ever discovered in Ontario.

Kum Chong WONG, 33, of Mississauga, is charged with Production of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is to appear in Lindsay Provincial Court later next week.

The clandestine lab was discovered at a rental cottage property in Gooderham, Ontario. The drug investigation has resulted in the seizure of approximately 21 pounds of powdered methamphetamine with an estimated street value of over $950,000 and approximately 1.75 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of over $148,000. Also seized were chemicals and equipment that are used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Police are warning the public of the dangers of this highly addictive drug. The potential devastation to our communities, socially and economically, that methamphetamine production and use causes, can be greater than any other drug being used.
