The North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce has invited members of the business community to a pre-budget consultation forum on January 13, 2009 at the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park from 10 am to 2 pm to provide an opportunity to speak out about what business needs from the Federal Budget to pull Canada out of recession.

On Tuesday, January 27, 2009, Federal Finance Minister James Flaherty will deliver the federal government’s budget. Its focus will be on measures to stimulate the economy, which is now most certainly in recession.

“Now, more than ever, Canada needs a strong business community, and our elected representatives need to hear all Canadians,” says Sean Lawlor, President. “We are looking for attendees to identify issues/obstacles affecting their sectors, so that we can strategize and come up with some recommendations to address them, whether it be a provincial, federal or municipal issue” continued Lawlor.

MP Anthony Rota will be attending, giving local businesses the opportunity to speak directly to our federal political representative.

The views expressed at this meeting will be summarized and submitted to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, along with those from other meetings being hosted by chambers across the country. They will be presented by Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, to the Minister of Finance and officials prior to the tabling of the Budget.

This is a unique opportunity for the business leaders and other interested people in North Bay and district to make their voices heard.
