Callander residents, in general, are satisfied with the overall quality of municipal services, says a news release from the community.
"They also love their community, especially its small-town atmosphere, its parks and location on the Bay," says Mike Purcell, CAO. "These are some of the findings from the My Callander Cares Community Survey which was presented at Tuesday’s Council Meeting in Callander."
A total of 335 people participated in the survey representing close to 9 per cent of the population. Participants describe Callander as a safe and affordable community with a great base to build on. They want to see Callander keep up with the times and encourage the Municipality to focus on enhancing and promoting the existing assets that make Callander unique.
“The survey shows that our residents are very passionate about their community and that they want to see it thrive. We received a lot of great feedback which we will take into consideration moving forward”, said Mayor Hector Lavigne.
The findings also identify areas where there is room for improvement. These include the Municipality’s:
- level and ways of communicating,
- some roads,
- the number of downtown businesses,
- the library and
- environmental aspects.
The survey took place in the month of August and focused on five areas:
- Community Satisfaction,
- Environment/Economy,
- Recreation and Programming,
- Communication and
- Household Information.
Survey results are available at the municipal website.
