Bon Voyage

Family and friends of the Near North Students Robotics Initiative along with faculty gathered at Chippewa Secondary Monday night to bit bon voyage to Team NNSRI1305 as they head of to the international FIRST competition in Atlanta.

Anxious but proud parents made sure the kids were taken care of with a pot luck dinner before they boarded the bus for a long 26 hour ride.

BayToday.ca just received news from the team that the ride to Atlanta has not been a smooth one.

Team communications officer Kevin Miller says they ran into trouble just after stopping in Vaughn to pick up colleagues Team1281.

“We waited for 2 hours to get the brakes on the bus fixed, and after that it was going to take another few hours so Tisdale put both of the teams up in a hotel for the night,” he notes.

“We got the bus back and were on the road by 7am this morning.”

This is the 5th year in a row that the team has qualified to compete at the top international level.
