Board Says Re-opening of Schools Successful

The Near North District School Board sent out a release stating they are pleased with how the re-opening of ten schools went Friday and will open and additional nine schools on Tuesday May 30th.

Magnetawan Central Public School, Magnetawan

McDougall Public School, Parry Sound

Phelps Central School, Redbridge

Pinewood Public School, North Bay

South River Public School, South River

Sundridge Centennial Public School, Sundridge

Tweedsmuir Public School, North Bay

Victory Public School, Parry Sound

On Tuesday May 30, 2006 an additional nine schools will re-open. The additional schools are:

Argyle Public School, Argyle

Ferris Glen Public School, Corbeil

Humphrey Public School, Parry Sound

M.T. Davidson Public School, Callander

Mapleridge Public School, Powassan

Marshall Park Public School, North Bay

Nobel Public School, Nobel

Silver Birches Senior Public School, North Bay

Vincent Massey Public School, North Bay

As we attempt to increase the number of schools that are open, board and school administration will continue to monitor the safety and supervision at each school. The Board and its administration will look carefully at all possible ways to increase the number of classrooms that are open.

The Board remains interested in meaningful negotiations or arbitration with the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario Near North Occasional Teachers’ Bargaining Unit as a way of allowing all students to return to their classrooms … where they belong.
