Students of the Near North District School Board are gearing up for Artovation ’06 – a celebration of student work in the arts. Preparations are now in full swing with just over a week to go until the spectacular event.

West Ferris Secondary School will host the event on the evening of Thursday, June 1st, at 6 pm when the public will be able to witness the diverse artistry that these students have to offer. Members of the media are invited to attend this unique festival.

The festival is being organised by the Near North District School Board Student Senate, who represent all seven secondary schools in the Board. The event’s focus is on raising public awareness of the talent of arts students throughout our schools.

An interactive visual arts and music gallery will create the festival atmosphere, where small music ensembles will play alongside artworks created specifically for the event. The highlight will be a stage performance presented in auditorium where each school from the board will showcase their talents in dance, drama, and music.

Tickets for the event are available in advance at any Near North District Secondary School for $5/person and $15 for a family of five. Bus transportation will be available for those in outlying areas such as Mattawa, South River and Parry Sound who wish to attend.

Unsold tickets may be available at the door, but advance sales suggest that it is best not to wait. Get yours now!
