North Bay professionals and community leaders are invited to a workshop to find out how community design and active transportation affect our health and our environment.

The workshop is intended for engineers, municipal planners, elected officials, school board members, Chambers of Commerce, community health promoters, individuals who deliver sport, recreation and health services at the community level, and advisory boards and service club members and people involved in Active Transportation.

Topics to be covered include:

- Introduce the concept of Active Transportation

- Access Active Transportation current status in the community

- Draft a vision for Active Transportation in North Bay

- Draft a plan to reach that vision

Johanne Lacombe, Go for Green’s Executive Director will explain the key concepts of Active Transportation including the health, social, and economic benefit factors.

The workshop takes place Wednesday, May 24th and Thursday, May 25th, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at West Ferris Community Centre, Auditorium Room 42 Gertrude Street East, North Bay.
