The Near North District School Board will continue to work diligently at providing exemplary learning opportunities for all students and ensure that resources are allocated in the best possible way, in a time of declining enrolment and decreasing funds for most boards across the province.

Trustees of the Near North District School Board will receive input from the public at a special board meeting for the 2008/2009 Pupil Accommodation Review Project on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at Chippewa Secondary School in the Auditorium.

If you or your group wishes to present at this meeting, you must inform Shawna Tardif, Executive Assistant to the Director, by Friday, January 9, 2009. ([email protected] or 472-8170, extension 5028) Presenters should aim for a maximum length of ten minutes for a single presentation. If the number of requested presentations is too large, a second special board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 in the Auditorium at Chippewa Secondary School, to accommodate the overflow.

This forum is designed to allow parents, staff, business and community partners the opportunity to present their views, data and suggestions to the trustees. Trustees will be able to ask the presenters for clarification, and likewise, the public may ask questions to the trustees.

The Board will hold another special public board meeting on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. in the Boardroom at Head Office, at which time the trustees will discuss what they have heard from the Accommodation Review Committees, senior administration, and directly from the public. There will not be an opportunity for the public to present at this meeting, but everyone may attend. If necessary, the Board may schedule a second similar meeting.

The Board values input from all the individuals who have invested their time and energy into attending meetings, conducting research, preparing presentations and reports and providing recommendations. The Board will continue to review and discuss all viewpoints and data before making their decision at the February 24, 2009 regular board meeting, at the earliest.
