80 year old dies in Port Loring fire

A second person was taken to hospital by ambulance

This fatal structure fire in Port Loring resulted in one death and another person being transported to hospital.

An 80-year-old resident of Port Loring is dead and another was hospitalized after a house fire Monday.

North Bay OPP say the person was pronounced deceased at the scene and has been sent to Sudbury for a postmortem examination. The second person was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The fire, on February 17, started around 7:15 a.m. and officials say at this time, foul play is not suspected.

The North Bay OPP, the Argyle Fire Department, and North Bay Ambulance responded to the fire on Lovers Lane in Port Loring.

The North East Region OPP Forensic Identification Service and the Office of the Fire Marshal are assisting with the investigation. The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario - Ontario Forensic Pathology Service is also involved.
