City police have arrested and charged two men and a woman in relation to trafficking in stolen property and firearms offences. All are from North Bay.
Police seized over $18,000-worth of stolen property.
On September 25 Street Crime Unit officers arrested Jeremiah McEdwards and Amber Townson during a vehicle stop, and arrested Dylan Johnson at a home on Carruthers Street. The next day, police executed a search warrant at a storage locker located on Lakeshore Drive.
Searches by police of the motor vehicle, residence, and storage locker resulted in the seizure of:
- One lever action firearm (rifle)
- One firearm barrel
- Stolen property worth an estimated $18,770 belonging to hardware stores and other victims from North Bay, Sudbury, Huntsville, Burks Falls, and Barrie.
Dylan Robert Johnson, 36, is charged with:
- Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Trafficking in property obtained by crime
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Trafficking in firearm, weapon, device or ammunition
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Jeremiah John McEdwards, 31, is charged with:
- Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Trafficking in property obtained by crime
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
- Two counts of driving while under suspension
Amber Townson, 30, is charged with:
- Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Trafficking in property obtained by crime
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Johnson and McEdwards were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse. Townson was released on an undertaking and is set to appear before the court on November 7.
