LETTER: School buses cancelled too easily

A school bus getting kids home safely in a winter storm.

To the editor:

School buses and winter in northern Ontario.

It seems to me that every time there is even a mention of snow coming, buses are cancelled.

We live where snow happens often and should be able to adapt as this is not new.

Buses should be ready for winter just like the rest of us with studded snow tires, as they are not even in use during most of the non snow summer and fall.

Working parents have to always have a plan in the event of snow or stay home. Schools remain open so it is expected that those brave enough will drive their kids to school and then off to work.

Having a safe bus to drive will give the driver the confidence to head out there.

Just my thoughts.
