To the editor:
I'll keep it brief, new CMV drivers should not go on the open highway without at least one year experience in local deliveries of their respective addresses.
Then they should have either a safety driver accompany them on as many trips as necessary to ensure safety, or have the MTO start a decision of unmarked vehicles patrolling certain areas to monitor proper driving habits!
The modern CMV new drivers have many dangerous habits.
I am a CMV driver of 40 years and I have seen a severe decline in the lack of courtesy and cooperation between CMV drivers.
I have had too many close calls in the last 15 years, drivers will follow too close, and on curves. On straightaways, the oncoming driver will cross the line almost causing head-on collisions.
I've witnessed a CMV in front of me pass another CMV on a double solid line blind curve.
Lastly, many drivers will have their Hi beams and fog lights on when coming from the opposite direction on a two-lane highway and not lowering their lights. It's all about them, do they not understand that the oncoming traffic can't see anything?
