Armed police surrounded the apartment building.

Police have charged a 42-year-old man with threats and a weapon offence after a raid at an apartment complex on Lakeshore Drive, across from Nipissing Plaza yesterday afternoon.

At around 4 p.m., police received a report that a man was yelling at, and following two victims along Lakeshore Drive.

The victims entered a nearby restaurant followed by the man who threatened the victims and displayed a weapon and then left the area.

North Bay Police Service’s Emergency Response Team was deployed. It found, then arrested the accused at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Jason Maradyn, 42, of North Bay is charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Maradyn was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.

BayToday previously reported the incident as a drug bust based on a witness statement. That story has been corrected.
