HOMEOWNERS SURPRISE BURGLAR On May 22 at 11 a.m. homeowners returning to their residence in the 1200 block of Fraser Street were surprised to find a burglar within. The thief managed to escape but a few minutes later, he was arrested by Sgt.

On May 22 at 11 a.m. homeowners returning to their residence in the 1200 block of Fraser Street were surprised to find a burglar within. The thief managed to escape but a few minutes later, he was arrested by Sgt. Harley Solman and Cst. Ken Rice of the North Bay Police Service.

Tyler NUGENT, 18, of Ferguson Street, is charged with Break and Enter with Intent. He was kept in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

MAN ASSAULTED
On May 22 two males met in a school yard on Fifth Avenue. At this time one of the males pushed the other 15-year-old male against a fence and proceeded to assault him about the face. The victim suffered cuts to the face area.

Some time later on the same day Cst. Ken Rice and Dave Wilson of the North Bay Police Service arrested a male in relation to this offence.

Jeffery SANTERRE, 29, of Elks Lane in North Bay, is charged with Assault Bodily Harm. He was held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

CAR THIEF CAUGHT
On May 21 a Chevrolet Corsica was stolen from a residence in the 800 block of McIntyre Street E. The thief then broke into North Bay Salvage and stole radiator cores and later resold them to the same business.

On May 22 Cst. Ken Rice and Denis Levasseur of the North Bay Police Service effected an arrest in relation to these crimes. Robert BELL, 56, of Boundary Road, in Mattawa, is charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Break and Enter and Theft. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

MAN HELD BY CITIZEN
On May 23 shortly before midnight a homeowner on Strathcona Drive saw someone inside his vehicle. He caught the man and held him until Cst. Gerry Martin and Steve Taylor of the North Bay Police Service arrived and took over the arrest.

Steven WILSON 19 years old age of no fixed address is charged with Attempt Theft and was held for a bail.

POLICE SEEK OWNERS


On the 24th of May at 4 AM Cst. Jeff Warner of the North Bay Police Service arrested a man near the lookout in Callander. This arrest was in relation to a stolen motor vehicle that was parked nearby. The man had walked around the area of Pinehill Rd and Highway 94 checking vehicles and stealing items within.

Police are now in possession of plastic cans of gasoline, some fishing equipment, camera equipment and some jewellery. They are asking owners of this stolen property to call Cst. Jeff Warner at 497-5555.

CREDIT CARD THIEVES CAUGHT
On May 24 shortly after 7 AM Cst. Jeff Warner of the North Bay Police Service arrested two individuals in relation to credit card theft and usage.

The cards had been taken from a vehicle and then used extensively throughout the city.

James HOWARD, 38, of Timmins Street, is charged with two counts of Theft of a Credit Card, 12 counts of Use of Stolen Credit Card and 12 counts of Adult utter forged document.

Regan PICHE, a female, 25, of Timmins Street, is charged with two counts of Theft of a Credit Card and 12 counts of Use of Stolen Credit Card.

Both individuals were kept in custody awaiting bail hearings.

FLIGHT DIVERSION
On May 23 shortly after 10 PM a flight had to be diverted to the North Bay Airport. This flight had originally been scheduled for Toronto from Albany but due to inclement weather was diverted. The flight contained some foreigners and was forced to remain in North Bay for over an hour.

ROBBERY
On May 23 at 10:46 PM a male suspect rushed in to Mac’s Convenience Store on O’Brien Street and Albert Street and robbed it.

The man held a black baseball bat and a small hunting knife while doing so. He smashed the security camera with the bat and then struck the lone male clerk in the arm. He then took money from the till and then located a second float and took that as well. The money was dumped in a black duffle bag. The suspect also took three cartons of Players cigarettes.

The Ontario Provincial Police K-9 unit was called out and assisted in the search. The dog led officers to the front entrance of 392 Airport Rd.

The suspect is described as male, dressed in black and wore beige gloves.

ARSON
On May 23 shortly before 6 PM someone set fire to two scrap passenger rail cars at Fern Piche and Sons on Industrial Road. They also tried to set fire to a third car but were unsuccessful. The fires began by setting newspaper on fire within these cars.

These fires are similar in nature to a fire on Oct. 26 at this same location.

BREAK AND ENTERS
On May 22 at 2 AM the owner of an apartment in the 1000 block of Fisher Street returned home to find that someone had broken in. The entry had been gained through an unlocked window.

Thieves took a substantial amount of cash, and electronic games.

On May 22 between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM thieves entered an apartment in the 400 block of Worthington Street E and stole a small amount of cash DVDs and some medication.
