POSSESSION OF CRACK COCAINE On Aug. 11 shortly before 2 AM, constables Rebecca McWhirter and Peter Brunette of the North Bay Police Service stopped a motor vehicle within the city.

On Aug. 11 shortly before 2 AM, constables Rebecca McWhirter and Peter Brunette of the North Bay Police Service stopped a motor vehicle within the city. At this time it is alleged that the occupants were in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine.

William LATOUR, 27, of Hardy Street, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance.

Laura Jean BAILEY, 30, also of Hardy Street, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance.

Both individuals were kept in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER
Overnight on Aug. 10 thieves forced their way into Fleury Collision on Lee Avenue.

Once inside they stole a 2004 Chev. Malibu. The vehicle was then driven away and involved in a collision in the Bracebridge area.

Here the Ontario Provincial Police arrested and charged a 16-year-old male with car theft and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. The North Bay Police Service has charged this same individual with break and enter and theft. He remains in custody in Bracebridge.

PUBLIC ALERT
The North Bay Police Service would like to caution the general public re. various door-to-door sales technique.

The Victims Services section recently became involved with a senior who had purchased an expensive vacuum cleaner
from a door to door salesperson.

There was a substantial amount of money involved and the Ministry of Government Services also became involved.

Eventually the senior's money was recovered.

The public is cautioned about making any such purchase without first looking into the viability of same. If the citizen is concerned, they are requested to call the Ministry of Government Services at 1-800-889-9768.

MEMORIAL DRIVE UPDATE
The North Bay Police Service would continue to caution the driving public about the lower speed limit of 40 Km/h on Memorial Drive.

To date the service's traffic section has issued 46 speeding tickets, 13 warnings and 10 reporting tickets. The service will continue to monitor this particular roadway.
