Three charged in Charlton shooting identified

Charges include attempted murder

Additional charges have been laid and the accused identified following a shooting incident in Charlton, just west of Englehart.

On September 23 shortly before 5 a.m., Temiskaming OPP responded to a shooting at a residence on Agnes Street in Charlton.

Three people were charged.

Amanda Batisse, 44, of Otto Township, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder using a restricted firearm or prohibited weapon
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • Forcible confinement
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Ronald Bluebird, 49, of Otto Township, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder using a restricted firearm or prohibited weapon
  • Two counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • Forcible confinement
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Discharged a restricted firearm or a prohibited firearm with intent

Deanna Ramthun, 51, of Charlton, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder using a restricted firearm or prohibited weapon
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • Forcible confinement

The accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury today.

The investigation is being conducted by the Temiskaming OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and Forensic Identification Services.
