The North Bay Police Service has arrested and charged a 51-year-old male for drug trafficking and driving offences.
The accused in this incident is Bernard Ronald Soucie, male, age 51, of North Bay, Ontario, who is charged with:
- Four counts of driving while under suspension
- One count of red light – fail to stop
- One count of fail to provide required document - driver
- One count of fail to Comply with Probation order
- One count of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- One count of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking
- Three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance
- Five counts of operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
At approximately 12:45 a.m. on September 16, 2024, a member of the North Bay Police Service observed a motor vehicle fail to stop at a red light on Algonquin Avenue at Lansdowne Street in North Bay and initiated a traffic stop. Police say the accused was located operating the vehicle and did not produce a driver’s license nor valid proof of insurance upon request. Police then confirmed that the accused was both a prohibited and suspended driver.
As a result, the accused was arrested. Searches by police resulted in the seizure of:
- Approximately 17 grams of suspected cocaine
- Approximately 7 suspected methamphetamine pills
- Approximately 28 grams of suspected Fentanyl
- Approximately 6 grams of suspected crack cocaine
- A quantity of Canadian currency
The estimated street value of the drugs seized in this incident is approximately $7,900.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
