On February 5 at approximately 8:15 a.m., the Manitoulin OPP responded to reports of a CMV on fire on Highway 17 in the Township of Walden. The driver of the CMV noticed smoke coming from the vehicle and discovered that a tire was on fire, which quickly spread to the rest of the vehicle.
The Manitoulin OPP closed the Highway in both directions while the City of Greater Sudbury Fire Services extinguished the fire. There were no injuries, and the Highway was re-opened after approximately one hour.
