COUNTERFEIT ARRESTS As a result of keen observations by store employees, police were alerted to three persons in North Bay passing good quality counterfeit $ 20s at Northgate, Fisher St. and Algonquin Ave businesses.

As a result of keen observations by store employees, police were alerted to three persons in North Bay passing good quality counterfeit $ 20s at Northgate, Fisher St. and Algonquin Ave businesses. The trio was located in a vehicle on Feb. 29th, stopped and three occupants were arrested.

Rajeevan Balasundram, 22, of Newmarket, as well as a 16- year-old female from Newmarket and a 17-year-old female from Aurora, have been charged with 12 counts of Uttering Counterfeit Currency, Possession of $ 1600 of counterfeit currency and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The male will appear in court April 6th and the Youthful Offenders will appear in court April 7th. Investigator is Cst. Mike Hunter.

ATTEMPT ROBBERY
On February 26th, 2004, a local male was approached by a male and a female who offered to purchase drugs for him. The male parted with $200 cash and the female left her purse with the male as collateral.

After the female left, the male demanded the purse back and attempted to leave. The victim was struck several times in the area of the Sands Motel, however witnesses intervened. As a result of an investigation by D/Cst Jeff Warner, Reggie Vandette, 34, of Second Avenue East was arrested Feb. 28th and is in police custody charged with Attempt Robbery and Assault.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
As a result of a complaint by a local female in relation to unwanted telephone calls at work, documentation being left on her car and continuous e-mails since November 2003, Cst. Peter Brunette has charged Ryan McCarthy, 27, of Peninsula Road, with Criminal Harassment. He is to appear in Court April 6th.

BREAK AND ENTER
A home in the 500 block of Cooks Mills Rd was entered through the basement while the home was unoccupied for two hours on February 28th. Taken from the residence were 12 CDs, 30 movies and a small amount of coins.




THEFT FROM VEHICLES
On Feb. 28 in the early morning hours, a vehicle had its window smashed out and a stereo stolen while parked at the Moz-e-on Inn.

On Feb. 28 around 5:15 p.m. near the YMCA, a green mini van driven by a male, 5’8, 180 pounds, dark jacket, stocky build was observed to smash a window of a van and steal the purse from within. (Cst. Adair)

Overnight Feb. 28th-29th, a vehicle had its window smashed while parked at the North Bay General Hospital and a purse and other contents stolen. Two attempts were made to use the VISA credit card. ( Cst. Bedard)

On Feb. 28th- 29th between 10:30 p.m. and 2 a.m., three vehicles had their windows smashed out while parked near the Voyageur Inn and purses taken. Attempts were made to use the credit cards from one of the purses and the three purses were located near the Royal Bank on Stockdale.
This is similar to an occurrence on Feb. 21st at the Voyageur when another window was smashed and a purse stolen.( Csts. MacIntosh and Kilroy)

People are reminded that purses and other valuables should not be left where they can be readily seen.
