Man randomly threatens victims downtown with a pair of scissors

Police got a call that a man was threatening a victim with an edged weapon on the street in the 200-block of McIntyre Street East

A North Bay man faces assault and weapons offences after an unusual event downtown Monday.

On October 21, police got a report that a man was threatening a victim with an "edged weapon" on the street in the 200 block of McIntyre Street East.

He began walking down the street and threatened another victim in the area say police. Officers found him in the 300 block of Lakeshore Drive, where he was arrested and charged.

The victims and accused are unknown to one another.

Police seized a pair of scissors during a search of the man.

Richard Allen McArthur, 56, is charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

McArthur was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
