Police arrested and charged a man with firearms offences after brandishing a gun on Highway 17, West Nipissing yesterday afternoon.
There were no injuries when police located the gunman and effected a "gunpoint arrest."
Two air handguns were seized.
The man was taken by Emergency Medical Services to the local hospital, for an injury received prior to the arrival of police.
Peter Jacko, 34, from Wikwemikong Unceded Reserve First Nation, is charged with:
- Pointing a firearm
- Imitation firearm - use while committing an offence
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Two counts of failure to comply with a release order
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
Jacko was held for bail court and was scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice today in North Bay.
