A 29-year-old North Bay man is under arrest and charged with multiple sexual offences in addition to trafficking controlled substances that led to the death of a person in early 2022.
After a lengthy police investigation, members of the North Bay Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested Cody Secord on August 7.
Police say on multiple occasions in 2022, a man procured and provided illegal drugs to the victims and subsequently performed sexual offences on, and with the victims. In one incident, the man procured and provided illicit drugs to one of the victims, which was consumed resulting in the victim’s overdose death.
Cody Secord, 29, of North Bay and Powassan is charged with:
- Manslaughter
- Fourteen counts of trafficking a Schedule I substance
- Two counts of sexual assault
- Two counts of invitation to sexual touching
- Voyeurism
- Three counts of a householder permitting sexual activity
- Eight counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order regarding children
- Make child pornography
- Possessing child pornography
Secord remains in custody pending his next court appearance at the North Bay Courthouse.
"The North Bay Police Service will not be providing any further information in relation to this investigation to protect the identity of the victims, as well as the integrity of the investigation and the ongoing court process," says a news release.
