LATCHFORD - A trucker spotted driving "all over the road" is facing impaired driving charges.
Just before 11 a.m. on Monday (Sept. 30), Temiskaming OPP and the Ministry of Transportation responded to a call about a southbound commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on Highway 11. Police allege the truck was "all over the road on Highway 11 in Latchford."
When police found the truck, it was determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol.
Ravinder Rai, 45, of Brampton is charged with operation while impaired - alcohol, and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused was released from custody and is slated to appear in court in Haileybury on Oct. 29.
The driver's licence is suspended for 90 days and their CMV was impounded for seven days.
"The OPP remind motorists to report impaired drivers. Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 9-1-1 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122," said police in a news release.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
