EVADES BEING STRUCK
On Nov. 6 an individual within an apartment housing area, while speaking to another male person, suddenly took a pry bar and threw it towards the victim narrowly missing him and smashing windows in the process.
The victim had to take evasive action to avoid being struck. The North Bay Police Service were called and constables Andre Berube and Roger Drolet arrested the aggressor without incident.
Rene Joseph Dolbeck, 57, of First Avenue W. is charged with weapons dangerous, mischief and breach of probation. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
TOWN HALL MEETING
The sixth in a series of Town Hall meetings was held on Wed., Nov. 5 at the Callander Legion. Approximately 15 residents met with members of the North Bay Police Service and Nipissing University to discuss policing in Callander and assist the police in setting their policing priorities for the future.
Priorities identified included vandalism, an increased police presence, higher visibility on rural roads and parking in the downtown area.
Input received from the public will be used to assist the North Bay Police Service set their goals and objectives in their Business Plan which will run from 2004 to 2007. Board Chair. Mr. William Ferguson and Chief George Berrigan both thanked the members of the community who attended and commented on the importance of their feedback in relation to the planning
process.
BREAK AND ENTERS
Between Nov. 4 and Nov. 6, thieves cut through a padlock at
the Circle Lake Community Centre on Lakeheights Rd. Two large 3' high speakers on pedestals worth $3800 were stolen as well as a laser light, hook up cables, food and flashlights. The entire loss was over $4000.
Overnight Nov. 4 thieves slipped the lock at Place St. Vincent, a residential building on Victoria St. and then made their way to the maintenance room.
They then took a bar and forced their way into the office
and rummaged through various contents. They also stole the video tape from the surveillance system.
