ROBBERY On June 17 shortly after 8:30 PM a woman was walking to her vehicle in the parking lot of Independent Grocers. As she did so a male person riding a bicycle passed by and snatched her purse.

On June 17 shortly after 8:30 PM a woman was walking to her vehicle in the parking lot of Independent Grocers. As she did so a male person riding a bicycle passed by and snatched her purse. Two bystanders chased after the suspect unsuccessfully.

This bicyclist is described as male, scruffy face, had black hair in a pony tail and was wearing a black hat, dark pants and a long white sleeve shirt.

It is further believed that this robbery may be related to another purse snatching that occurred on the 16th of June.

The investigator Cst. Dave Wilson would like to speak to the two male witnesses who assisted the woman. Any other witness to this incident are requested to call 497-5555.



BEAR CALL
On June 17 shortly after 3 PM the North Bay Police Service received several calls regarding a bear in the area of Vincent Massey school. The radio stations were contacted to alert the citizens of the area. The school was ordered locked down and officers attempted to get the bear back in the bush area. They were unsuccessful, and due to the fact that some children were seen playing in their yards, a supervisor felt that the bear had to be dispatched for their safety.

BREAK AND ENTER
Overnight on the 17th of June thieves cut the key lock to a shed on Greenhill Av. There they stole a red “Beech” brand tool boxes containing various household tools. They also stole a yellow and green tackle box and a purple and beige tackle box with tackle and 2 Mitchell fishing rods.
