Disturbance call leads police to impaired driver

One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after a disturbance call in Cobalt.

On October 30, at 6:45 p.m., the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Nickel Street. Upon arrival, a person was observed fleeing the scene in a motor vehicle.  

Police later located the driver and vehicle at a business on Main Street in Latchford. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

Brett Wilson, 50, from Charlton is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand - two counts
  • Resist peace officer
  • Causing a disturbance
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Driving while under suspension - two counts
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
  • Use defaced plate
  • Fail to surrender suspended, revoked, or cancelled licence
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

Wilson was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice today.
